Need to put together an inexpensive Webcast?
Is pod casting the most recent passing fad or is it here to stay? I think it’s here to stay. My experiences this morning may give you an insight as to why I think pod casting could be extraordinarily important part of 3rd millennium communications.
First of all let me explain how pod casting works. You do not have to have an iPod to listen to a pod cast. Any PC, laptop or computer that has the capabilities of playing a MP3 file will work. So if you’ve got any system that has Windows media player or any other media player installed you got an iPod and didn’t know it. A pod cast is simply a MP3 recording that gets sent out on an rss feed just like this blog. You can subscribe to the rss feed with Bloglines or even get it via email
For those of you who have now or have been in the past taking my class, “Teaching on the Internet” you’ll know that we have some pretty convoluted methods of putting together a Web cast as an online teaching tool.
Well this morning in my RSS in my Bloglines account I got an rss feed of a presentation by Jean-Claude Bradley, to Bryn Mawr University and how to put together an inexpensive pod cast of a lecture. He is a chemistry professor of who uses pod casts and blogs to teach his online classes. But anyway this is worth listening to or watching of even if you are not in a situation where you must use online training.
It will give you a glimpse of where the future of teaching and communicating is headed.
Quoting Jean-Claude Bradley:
Podcasting talk at Bryn Mawr College I gave a talk today at Bryn Mawr College about the podcasting and screencasting of undergraduate classes in Drexel CoAS. Here is the screencast mp3 podcast and Powerpoint.
