Move beyond speed reading
No need for speed reading, listen to your correspondence while you commute
Are you are overloaded with professional reading, and often find yourself stressed out by how much correspondence you must read in a day?
Well then, I have a deal for you.
I am a big fan of auditory learning. For years I have been a talk radio junkie . . . listening to talk radio in the background while I conduct my tasks on the computer all day. Recently I have discovered auditory learning and how much MP3 recordings have been made on very useful information. I am absolutely amazed at how many wonderful presentations are available as Podcasts or MP3 files, if you know how to find them on the Internet. and have become eight and the three junkie instead of talk radio junkie.
I have always longed to find a way to reduce the amount of my professional reading. I have a stack of reading materials probably not unlike most of you that becomes overwhelming at times.
I discovered should something today that is going to save me many hours of reading, and study. And unbeknownst to me, this tool has been sitting on my computer for several years and I just discovered it today. I’m almost embarrassed that I did not know about a little known tool that is built into Adobe Acrobat Reader. It is a feature called “read aloud”. Very simply this handy function will take the text of any PDF document can read it back to you. Yep, you heard me . . . Your computer will talk to you.
What this means is you can scan all of your business correspondence, e-mail, casual reading, etc. into a PDF document free of charge at: create PDF files for free
Once you have your correspondence into a PDF format and if you have a laptop computer, set the laptop computer up and the front seat of your car before you leave your driveway. Open up your document in Adobe Acrobat Reader and click on view then select “read aloud”. Here is what it looks like on a screen capture shot.
